Cura has had tree support for a few years now. Meanwhile, Thomas Rahm has been working on an improvement of tree support that pretty much re-writes the way it works. He made a pull request for Cura that implemented that. Those algorithms have been converted by Prusa to work with Prusa slicer and they renamed it "Organic" support.

They define surfaces where support should and should not be applied. They do NOT act like keep out areas. They also do NOT apply to the print bed, only to the model. Once those surfaces are defined though the support generation algorithm takes over.
