How hard is computer science

While classes are challenging and you do have to work hard, I've found that the workload is pretty manageable. I usually average around 30-35 hours of work a week for schoolwork (lecture, hw, studying, etc) taking 2 CS classes + math. In your freshman year, you are limited to taking 140 in the fall and 182 in the spring.
